I have rewired and re routed my cool runner about 15 times, i've used double shielded cable on the cpu_rst line, tried different lengths.

Tried both a 220nf and a 270nf cap from cpu_rst to gnd

Tried multiple different caps on the Pll_bypass to gnd, ranging from 27nf to 100nf

ive let it sit over night trying to boot xell, nothing seems to be working.

The debug light flashes every 5 seconds for less then a second, sometimes the debug light flashes on for longer like a second to a second and a half (not sure sure what's happening there) but its nto booting xell.

any one got any ideas?

this is a xenon that had a dead dvd for years, it was never modded and probably only has about 50 hours on it before it failed.

Guys - you have to leave it on sometimes for 24 hours.

of course Xenons are awful for this hack why would you say "it seems" ? Didn't you read the release notes at all ??

You only need to boot it to Xell ONCE - its a recover/repair hack !

if the green led is flashing then just walk away and leave it - even if its overnight !

Alright Ubergeek, thanks for the heads up. I'll take the box home from my shop tonight and connect it to my spare tv, i dont want to leave it unattended at work over the weekend and have it boot xell only to say crash. given the fact it could take 20+ hours i want to be there to get the dvd key and be done.

i've been trying 100bf and 47nf caps. I'll keep trying on this thing though.

Up in Ontario canada, i ordered a new coolrunner rev_B and nand-x kit. I'll give that a shot before i bite the bullet and ship it. But if you are offering i would be humble and take you on the offer to glitch this for me if i need it. I have done probably around 60-75 coolrunner installs and never had this much problem, even with Zephyers. But then again i have nevewr tried a Xenon.

it just seems a shame to toss this box in the trash because it probably has a good year or 2 of game play on it before it will rrod if its cooled correctly since it was a bad dvd drive right out of the box basically.

just did my first xenon over the weekend.used no special kind of wire at all, just the wire with the cr.and rev b cr board with cap bridged and it glitched in about half an hour.this xenon had been sitting here for more than 2 years with no drive key.

hopefully you will get yours going.its amazing tx got it going at all.most people that have tried this have left the box going while they were at work or something else that might take hours.

cant go wrong with an xecuter product, def cant go wrong with an xecuter backup/spare.i have multiples of all my tools.

pretty sure the rev b cr will do it for ya.as i said i used no special wiring,so that parts up to you.just make sure your not routing your wires through bad places on the mb.thier are photos of these areas on all the coolrunner install guide pics on here now.bridge the solder points to enable the cap and ur good, leave it and go.and mine also blinked like split sec four times then it would have 1 long green light.so its common.

yah i stay away from the coils and what not on all my installs, and i normally use shielded cable.

Every now and then i get the log green led when its glitching, i'm not sure what thats about either lol

Thanks for the info though. Looks like i may be in luck around Wednesday when the rev B comes

Just thought of something, you dont think it may not be glitching because im using a vga A/V cable an not the component?

i have heard other stories of boxes not glitching on hdmi but do on component.

It just needs to be plugged into the AV port it would still glitch. Even it the end was chopped off you would still see the swirl. I run mine on component just fine.

I had one that was running, waiting for it to glitch... ran for 24hr and still nothing. dbg light clicking away every 5 sec. shut it down since I would be gone all day - now nothing. no dbg flash at all.

is there a chance it may be shot or should I continue to swap out caps and see if the dbg light starts back up again?
