I bought an 80 gig laptop HD and a 3.5 metal USB enclosure to house it in. I then put all of my pics and mp3's on it and it works great! This way I don't use up all of my XBOX360 internal HD space.

It plugs into my PC for data transfer and then plugs right into my XBOX360's USB port.

Here is why I got the idea from:

Code:

I used Partition Magic to format the HD

You can't use it like the MS hard drive. You can use it for media purposes only (music, photos, movies)

Correct. It DOES NOT act like the internal XBOX 360 HD but actually like a storage drive which the XBOX 360 can access easily. I believe that you can even put movies on there to view also as long as they are in the proper format. Haven't had time to try that one yet. Saves me a lot of space though.

I believe that this should cover your original question about loading up your XBOX 360 with a bunch of songs without the need for a CD.

smallman01313,

I have a Freecom FSG-3 NAS (Network Attached Storage) that I use to stream music to my Xbox 360. It uses a program called Twonky Media. The Twonky Media can be installed on a PC and in the latest versions can stream movies to the Xbox.

You can also create playlists in media player and use these on the 360 as compilations.

The website for Twonky is

Sorry smallman01313 but my solution is a pure streaming one.

I store my files on a NAS and stream to the xbox.

smallman01313 - if you go for the external USB drive just make sure you format FAT32 - x360 does not like NTFS.

englishbryan - does twonky transcode divx -> wmv? i mean from the NAS !! :-o

cos' i use Tversity (great program imo) - but from PC not NAS!

No I'm afraid not.

I use a little batch file that utilises the codecs built into VLC to do the conversion for me.

im almost crertain that all the details of the songs are on the credits on the game. then they should be easy enough to find on those file sharing programs. ;-) (wrong thread)
