hi everyone. i have been contemplating flashing my dvd drive firmware for awhile, and even though i'm nervous as hell (don't want to waste $400) i am going to go through with it since i'm currently on my 3rd store bought copy of pg3. i just have one question: does anyone know how much longer load times are at 4x speed vs. 12x speed. i was going to use the 52.b firmware for my samsung ms25 but i just want to be sure i'm not going to have to wait forever for games to load. thankx

The loads times could be up to a minute I think. What brand of disc are you going to be writing to? If it's Verbatim than that's fine but if your using cheaper media I'd go for 5.2d just incase your media prefers to be read at 12x.

all my back-ups are on verbatims and they al read at 12x. The load times are almost identical to the original disc. So you should have no problems. im on a hitachi drive also. :)

thanks for the replies. since everyone seems to have such luck with verbatims at 12x, i'm going to use xtreme 5.2a or c. no sense having longer load times if its not necessary.

Personally I find using 5.2d easiest, if I buy media that wont read at 12x I can have it read at 4x instead :).
