I have a jasper 16 MB on which I have fitted the alternate jtag kit 5 as the db1f1 and ft1u1 were damaged.

What should I set smc config to on cool shrimp's tool v3?

As I keep getting E79 using xell, with original or both aud_clamp & dvd try options. JTAG is set to on. Resistor is set to 470.

I'd say there is some problem with the Jtag wiring/soldering. Otherwise the original SMC config should have worked and not given you E79.

By the way, instead of doing this, why didn't you simply use the Alternate JTAG Configuration ie. OPEN_TRAY and AUD_CLAMP?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, well I did try the alternate jtag points you mentioned by following your tutorial in the stickies. The xbox just won't boot up. No power, no nothing!

I tried the tip you mentioned as well in the tut for patching the xell.bin for my jasper in update my smc. No change!

Well, if you can, solder back according to the Alternate Jtag Tutorial, then use Jtag Tool to write XeLLous. I am sure that it will work.

^ Weird! How come it works for almost everyone and not for you? There must be something wrong, otherwise it'd work....

I honestly don't know, I've checked and rechecked infact I'm at my wits end!

I am 100% confident in my soldering. I just don't understand what is causing it to fail to boot/power up when using the alternate jtag points.

I would say post pictures of your soldering job and we can go from there......I don't doubt your soldering ability, but we all make mistakes at some point!

I've done probably 100+ jtags so far and I still made the mistake of soldering to the wrong point once....spent days trying to figure out where I had went wrong and then someone pointed it out to me and it fixed the problem immediately (not saying that's your problem, just giving an example.....sometimes a different pair of eyes can point out something you may have overlooked)
