Hello everyone,

I have some questions regarding the slim XBOX and thought I'd post them here. Please note that I have flashed a LiteOn on a phat before (used my motherboard SATA) so I'm probably familiar with all the process I just want to make sure before I go ahead.

1) I have a LiteOn, dont know which model yet (does it matter?) and I'm on dashboard 13146 (Slim XBOX).

2)I know that I could do the RGH or use **** but I tend to lean more on the CFW because I have done it before, it's easy enough for me, and it is the safest on xbox live AFAIK (anyone could advise otherwise?)

3)I want to flash LT+ and was wondering if I need anything other than the x360pro for flashing. I know that I could buy the CK3 to power the drive but I have done this before and can do the powering manually.

4)There is also a strange notice in the jugnle flasher guide that says:
"NOTE: IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO – UPDATE YOUR XBOX
DASHBOARD TO THE LATEST DASHBOARD BEFORE WRITING LT+ FW."

Why would I want to update my dashboard if I'm pre 13599 this will only lock my drive correct?

5)And what happens when I flash CFW on 13146? I will have to update the dashboard anyway to login to LIVE and my drive will be locked again and I have to unlock it and then install CFW again is that correct?

Thanks in advance.

A CK3 or CKi is recommended but yes, you can power your drive from your xbox.

Your Lite-on firmware revision should be on the top side of your drive in the bottom right corner. I have heard a lot of reports of mislabeled drives so to ensure you know your revision, run your Lite-on through Jungleflasher and it will tell you what it is.

If you are lucky enough to have a 9504 Lite-on then your drive is indeed unlocked. The only thing is that you're going to have to update it to a 0272 regardless if you want to flash LT+ 3.0.

It is always recommended to update to the latest dashboard with stock firmware before flashing to the latest Ixtreme.

You will need to either need a TX replacement pcb, a sputnick probe, sputnick pcb (which involves cutting traces), or an IC replacement if it is a Winbond chipset. (Not recommended for beginners).

Winbonds can be "Kamikazed" (there are plenty of guides available on this forum) but this is a very dangerous method. If you are going to Kamikaze make sure to get a full dump of your drive info before stabbing at your PCB.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for your reply loomingx.

But won't updating to the latest dashboard lock my drive? Or is this step unavoidable?
Is there any way I can flash CFW without doing any unlocking(like the phat LiteON?)

Yes updating your console will lock your drive. But youre going to have to do this to be able to flash lt3.0 as it works with the new security on the latest dashboard and youre only safe on live by keeping up to date with the newest firmwares.

Once you update the console your drive will be locked. This is assuming that its not already locked as it depends which drive you have. Then you have to go about one of the methods shown above to unlock the pcb to be able to flash to it.

I think I'll do that Coleman. Although I could do it manually its a frustrating process. Thanks for the advice.
