question about 360 harddrive

I have two 360, elite and firmware modded premium, the question i have is can i take the 20 gig and retreive my gametag on my elite, redownload the games i bought, then move it back to my modded 360. wanted to know if that will work.

ok , retreived my gametag, but now it want to do a update to my modded system, says to update security and functionality. can update with out any problems
