Question about backup bios

I havent received my mod chip yet, but i was wondering something. If you attempt to flash the chip and something goes wrong you can boot to the backup bios right? My question is when you are in the backup bios how do you flash the 1024k slot instead of the backup slot? or am i just asking a stupid question

leave the switch bank set to a 1024k bios slot and load up the backup, the backup uses the switch setting and flashes the bios to a 1024k slot

problem going from lite on to sammy

alright. i have hooked my lite on drive to my computer and got a dummy.bin. then i put the sammy in and opened the .bin i got from the lite on as the source. then i opened the target FW as 5.3 that i got from Xbins. then clicked "spoof source to target". everything looks good so then i write it to the sammy and everything goes good. i try to play and it wont i dont understand what im doing wrong. im following the tutorial and this is also what it says. can someone help me plez.

Where did you get a v5.3 fw?! Look on the right side of this site, it states 1.61 as being the highest. That alone tells me that the firmware you flashed into it might be incorrect.

I thought I read that with 5.3 you don't have to use the activate cd but it will play wave 4 games?? But I have tried it with 1.4 through 1.61 and they all do the same thing. It will either give a dirty disc error or just show everything as a DVD.

Yes I entered all of the serial info from the lite on drive in JF.

I do need to spoof it as a lite on.. Right? With the key from the lite on.

its a lite-on 16D2S 7xxx. it was flashed to 1.51 by someone else and it works fine but wont play wave 4. im just trying to get the sammy to work with wave 4.

try reflashing it and ignore ale_lock bcoz he is most probly some1 who has flashed one console and thinks he is a pro!

if you are just planning on playin wave 4 go for 1.61.

also try and orginal see what happens..... the laser mite have gone! or incoreect key!

Alright flashing guru: How are you going to fw1.61 when he's spoofing a lite-on drive?! Enlighten us...

@deakrn3: Unless your adament about getting the samsung working, just burn a activate.iso disk. Your doing quite a few unecessary steps if all you want is to boot wave 4. Spoofing lite-on fw to a samsung means you still can't one shot boot wave 4, still need to bypass security with activate.

If you are spoofing a liteon to a sammy you use sammy fw which includes 1.61.

But the lite on with1.51 won't load wave 4 with the iso. I thought it had to have 1.61??

Well mate it is very hard to debug ur problem since the information is limited and supported by you following the tutorial.

Checklist of things you might want to double check.
1- You Lite-On dumping process is perfect (Your key is valid)
2- Loaded you 5.3a sammy firm in target then spoofed it, message confirms that it was spoofed into a lite-on with the same key.

Flash ur sammy as usual, write and it verifies ok. Send THE Outro/ATA RESET and all should be fine.

If you did all this and 100% certain of following the tutorial then you need a copy or preferably an original to make sure it isnt DVD media issues.

Edit: Based on ur Lite-On model am assuming ur dumping using a CK3 probe or a USBXtreme. Key verified being the same during the multiple dumps before finally writing the dummy.bin

kk thanks for the info. i will look into thos things. everything goes good, only thing is that most of the time when i click the outro button after writing it comes up and says "no drive detected".

And the drive remains in vendor mode?
"no drive detected" means the release of vendor mode. If it is no longer in vendor mode then ur set. Test the sammy drive initiate a dump and confirm if the flash went well.

EDIT: just remembered something, sammy 5.3 are based on the model you have. Are you choosing the proper one ms25 firmware is different from ms28.

I was just going to say don't forget sammys come in two flavors m25 & m28, I did this just last week spoofed a liteon 7 series to sammy m28 with 1.61 works with all waves no problems.

after i flash it, i checked it in JF and it comes up as "Vendor: PLDS Name: DG-16D2S F/W Rev: 7485" so it is coming up as a lite on drive. but when hook it up and see if it works it will show that it is a game but wont play it at all. im trying to play a game that works fine on the lite on (Borderlands) but it does the same thing with any game disc i put in it. :-|

if it shows up as a game at all, you have flashed correctly and you should be good to go.

if it doesn't play, that means you either have crappy media or your samsung is wearing out.

lite-ons are typically more powerful drives and can read crappier media....samsungs on the other hand.........
