Question about Corrupted SD Card

In my research of past threads, I have come across a number of posts referring to corrupted SD Cards.

I am wondering,

Can I back up the entire microSD Card to a folder on my PC, and then in the event that my microSD gets corrupted, I can just reformat the microSD and then copy the backup from the PC back to the SD?

Would this get everything working fine again?

Yes, I have done exactly that except I skip the game xci files to save space.
