ok im going to get a bigger hard drive installed in my xbox.. and i have xbox live, and they check the serial number everytime i log on to xbox live.. and i have hurd that u have to get a different eeprom and a account recovery for u not to be banned on live for having the bigger hard drive.. does anyone kno if theres tutiorals out there for this stuff? cuz im really confused on how to do this... some one help.. thx Brent.

well if your worried about a differant serial number, then you could get a swtich to switch the power between the two drives. This only means that the power would either go to one or the other. Also make sure the mod chip is disabled and you should be good to go.
is there another way for just putting on a new hard drive and not have both hard drives at the same time? it would be better if i could just have the good hard drive in and thats all... does anyone kno how to do this? or where to get tutorials? i just dont want to get banned with the new better hard drive .. cuz it has a diff. serial number.. and so i have hurd that u have to change the eeprom ... but how? thx.
xbox-scene.com has tutorials for eeprom and stuff just go over there and check it out. To answer your question yes, new hdd=new eeprom and accout recovery to get back on xbl.
what you'll have to do is get another UNBANNED eeprom from someone. If you don't you'll get banned. You can get one from someone in the Buy and Sell section at the www.xbox-scene.com forums for about 10 dollars US. You can "install" that eeprom by just going in the ftp at config live and go into the eeprom folder in Admin. Make sure you unlock your current hdd though so just in case you can use it again. When putting your new hdd in put the jumpers on Cable Select mode. If that doesn't work (which should) try Master.
BTW, it's recommended that you get a 1.6 version eeprom is you have a 1.6 box but if you don't, i dont think it really matters. There's more indepth tut's (but may walk you through the steps in ConfigMagic which isn't as easy as using config live's features) at the forums over at xbox-scene.com.

Thanks for the info digger, and NeOnRaBbIt!!! ok first of all what is a EEprom.. is it like a serial numer.... i kno it deals something with the hard drive but.. im confused on what a EEprom is... could i just switch hard drives with one of my friends xbox.... he dont have xbox live and he cant get it where he lives.. so could i just do that? or would it be easier to buy one from somewhere? thx Brent.
?Dude, I don't know how old you are, but It would be really great if you could use proper spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but I've seen your posts around, and it's kinda difficult to figure out what you're saying. So please, for the sake of us all and yourself, clean it up a little.
