Hi!

I've got a question about this great guide:
Why is it so important to check the "Dummy.bin only" option? I mean is the Dummy.bin extracted with this option different than Dummy.bin extracted without checking it?

If you tick it, only dummy.bin is extracted/saved - I always use this option.

Files such as key.bin, serial.bin, inquiry.bin etc all make up dummy.bin :).

Yes, but with the option unchecked, the Dummy.bin is extracted as well, so why is it so important to check "Dummy.bin only?

Read what I posted, the other files aren't really needed because dummy.bin contains all drive specific data (those files I mentioned).

Checked or unchecked doesn't matter, but it makes no sense having multiple binaries saved for a drive when you can have everything stored in one file.

Of course, I know. But I just want to know if the Dummy.bin file extracted both ways (with option checked and unchecked) is the same?

Yes thank you very much. So basically it doesn't matter. I get the same Dummy.bin either option. Thanks.

Dummy.bin only is what you should enable as it's cleaner, however to maintain legacy suport, JF dumps the files individually.

This means you can use other programs, and, was great for manually creating firmwares for people if you play with a hex editor often.
