Hello all,

Had a quick question about mismatching a a 1.5 Xbox motherboard with a 1.6 powersupply. A friend of mine gave me his xbox and tells me it over heated and stopped working. Well whatever, I already have an xbox(and modded :)) after some insane toughness. Anyway, I was also given a X2.6 chip from my roomates brother he wanted it put into his xbox, but the roomate decided to soft mod it instead (not sure why) anyway, so I got these 2 things, the problem is the xbox he gave me definately doesn't boot up, but it gets power no problem just a continual frag. I stripped it down and checked it all out, and there appears to be a scorch mark on the top side of the motherboard and some black residue. Sounds like he was right, he never tried to mod it or do anything so thats my only lead. However, in attempt to salvage and sell it back to him I was going to simply replace the motherboard. I was wondering if there were any issues noted when using a 1.2-1.5 motherboard with a 1.6 powersupply? Any thoughts about it would be appreciated.

Found an answer. Guess it isn't compatible. 1.2-1.5 power supplies work with 1.2-1.5 motherboards. 1.6 powersupply only works with 1.6 motherboards. Just have to buy power supply and motherboard I guess. At least most of the motherboards include the OEM HD it came with :0
