Question about pre-installed bios

I have a v1.6 xbox and just installed the chip with the pin header install. I'm fairly certain the soldering was done correctly because a hardware guy at my workplace did it for me.

When I boot up the xbox by disabling the mod chip, everything works as it should. (I.e. it acts as a normal unmodded xbox) The xbox won't boot when I try to boot from the X3, however. I see nothing on the screen. I'm curious if this is because it has FlashBIOS v3.03 preinstalled? I read this in a FAQ: "FlashBIOS v3.03 may not work on v1.6 in some cases."

What should I do? I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Edit: Also, my mod chip doesn't match the one in the picture of every installation guide I've seen. I left the protect switch in the position that it was shipped to me in. I don't know if that matters..

There should be 3.01 on bank one (1234) and the back up bios and 3.03 on the second bank (5678).

just try to boot the backup, hold the power and eject, you will get a purple x3 logo. You might have an X3CE if its red on the back not purple.

Thanks for the quick reply. (1234) and (5678) didn't work.

Bank 1 gave me the same result I get when I tried booting from the mod chip earlier: The light goes green, orange, and then flashing green.

Bank 2, the light stayed green for awhile.. and then turned orange and remained.

I tried booting the backup. I got the purple logo, but nothing happened.

Edit: I'm guessing this means there's something wrong with the physical installation? (I reaaaally hope not)

No, I'm using component cables. I also tried plugging in my multi-adapter Mad Catz wire.

Any other ideas?

I'm sad =(

Yeah, use the standard VGA cables. I think you need to change settings before your Component cables and stuff will work. If you don't have the original, try borrowing them from a friend.
