I've currently ran into a problem with my sd card reader not working. I bought a new one but it still isn't working. 2 of the pins are broken. Someone told me I could solder jumper wires from the reader to the mother board to get it working. I've never done soldering before and can't seem to find anyone near me willing to do it. I contacted Nintendo and I can have it sent in for repairs. My question is, if I send it into Nintendo will they also "fix" my joy con rail? Which will render my sx os useless. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

From what I have read over the past few years Nintendo will automatically change the motherboard when a hackable unit is returned to them for repair, even if this isn't the part which is faulty. It will be best to find an independent company or clever friend who could do it for you.

If you send it to get fixed, they will 100% replace the board/unit with a patched unit. You can boot CFW without and SD, but you can't do much else without an SD card. I would try to find someone who is a pro at soldering and they may be able to replace the port that the SD card reader plugs into.

If you are in the UK there is a company in Glasgow which repairs Nintendo and other consoles, they are also much cheaper than Nintendo for repairs
