ok so first let me say that I am a newbie at this stuff so do not expect me to know everything lol

now onto my questions:
i want to know if instead of buying a VIA 6421 (which i believe is recommended?) i could use my HDD enclosure to power/connect the drive to my PC?
the main thing I am unsure about is whether you might need a specific chipset or something and also whether some methods might not allow read/write access to the drives firmware?

so yeah basically that's my question to you guys and yeah if you need any specific information about anything just ask and i'll do my best to provide it :)

thanks a lot in advance
Gonk

P.S. i would also like to know if i could use the method i mention above to flash an iHAS drive too?

ok but my question is would it work using the connections on the back of my old HDD enclosure (it has sata connection and is powerd from mains)?

the reason i want to know is so i don't have to spend like £40 on X360USB Pro + whatever else i need

If you're talking about your Xbox drive - no you cannot do this - different power connector, you will need either a ck3 lite/pro/i as it is not recommended to power from your xbox either - you will need compatible SATA chipset in your pc also - if u have a slim drive - you will 99% need the X360USB Pro

yes - the method above will work for your iHAS
