Hello everyone first time poster here. I've read plenty of threads and cant find help on the problem I'm having. I recently installed a 2.6 on a xbox and am having no luck with it starting. my system just boots like a normal xbox. nothing under the microsoft logo. i've tried different switch settings to no avail. im not sure how the switches work, i saw someones 4 switch diagram on this forum, but i have 5 switches, banks 1-4 and flash protect. from what ive read it seems like my d0 connection may have an open. but im pretty sure that its solid, going to check it with a voltmeter tomorrow, someone posted to check its continuity between the pcb solder point and board ground. is this right? if this checks ok what next? how should my dip switch settings be? i've tried many combinations.

i've read all the tuts on bios installing and dash installing, im going with the evo m8 bios for 1.6 behind the flash bios 3.03 i think and evo dash. from what i've read this combination is the most stable.

also one last question, i have a dial on my x2.6 ship, assuming it's a potentiometer but not sure what it's purpose is? could it's current adjustment be part of my problem?

sorry for the long thread, just stuck here and cant seem to find too many straight answers.

thanks for any help...

First of all, I think you have an X3 chip and not a 2.6

The usual cause of not booting to modchip is incorrect or poor D0 connection, if you're sure with your connection set your switch settings to "on on off off off" and you will boot to bank 1234 which has the flashbios 3.01 assuming that you have a v1.6 xbox like what you have said earlier. It is also recommended for you to flash X3 bios like x3_3294v16 to utilize your chip's full potential, for the dash I personally like UnleashX but it's a personal preference.

BTW, the dial on the chip is for adjusting the contrast of the add-on lcd, you'll be able to use that once you purchase X3cp or the lcd.

The X2.6 chips don't have 5 switches. There are 3 primary (enable/disable, flash protect/unprotect and bank 1/2) plus a smaller switch to turn off the LEDs. No banks 1-4. No dial. These are features on the X3 chip. If this is what you've got it's better than the X2.6CE, more features. Take the ID your chip link in my sig and look at the different mod chips displayed in those pages. Clicking on the chip images should bring you to additional images of the revisions of the chips. Does your chip look like the X2.6 images on the Gen 3b page or something else? The X3 is featured on the Gen 4 page.

Not trying to shoo you away, but there is actually a separate forum for X3 chips on the board. You'll be more likely to find people familiar with X3 issues and setup in there.
