Hi, I was having error unrecognized disk and took it to a shop to have the laser replaced, when I got it back only games purchased from store worked, also a couple of games that were copied. I went back to the store to ask if they have replaced the drive and they at first insisted they replaced only the laser later he said replaced the drive, but replaced the board from the old drive to the one being replaced. I took it to a guy I found on craiglist and he said: " I wouldn't be able to flash it unless you still had the drive keys from the original drive saved" if that is the case not having the keys can this drive still be flashed? My friend from craiglist told me I have a Liteon drive. Thank you.

seems as if you do need to rgh it in order to get those keys back,or ask that guy to let you have that board back.Or rgh it and have even more fun and also get that key back and flash it then.

If they put the old PCB into the new drive then it would still be flashed with the custom firmware. If he just put a new drive in it then he still would have had to glitch it to get the DVD key. Id put my money on the fact that he saw an opportunity to get a flashed drive so he put a laser in it and kept the Xbox and drive and he just gave you another Xbox just like it with a working non flashed DVD drive, and he just swapped the case.(if he even swapped the case). Did you write down your serial number before you gave him the box to fix it? If so does it match the serial on the case and if yes then I would pull up the system setting to see if the motherboard serial matches.
I could be wrong but it doesnt make sense that he gave the PCB back with the new drive but now it is not flashed anymore.
