I have a friend who wants to get an x3, but we havent figured out his xbox is a 1.6 or 1.6b. Since he doesnt want to open it up until the installation, i just want to know, when will flashbios v3.0.3 work with a 1.6?

you only need the FLASHBIOS v3.0.3 if you have a v1.6b xbox.

When you order your chip specify your version and most places will send the chip with the correct flashbios.

also ALL new stocks ahve both versions of flashbios so it doesnt matter what xbox you buy or what mod you have now

I've heard you can do it with a paper clip if your a macgyver type, self not included. Cant find the tut though.

Well, I don't think you need the connectivity kit, it's just gonna be a damn pain to power cycle with the xbox.

no, you still need the connectivity kit with COM port to extract the key
the paper clip can be used in place of the probe, but you DO need the COM port connectivity kit to extract the key
you could do the MRA hack with soldering to get your key without any connectivity kit
