Re: Seeing the FAQ forum, it says locked

Well, I just had some questions that I couldn't find from the textbook. I really didn't want my first post to be one where I got yelled at for not reaing some FAQ or something like that.

I guess I'll just ask them here:

Why does the textbook not have a picture for the Phillips Drive?

I think I have something similar to the Samsung drive, because my botton notch on the inner drive is big, and so is the top notch of the inner drive. Every picture I have seen of the Samsung, only has the big notch on the bottom side, and is it that I am just seeing things wrong and I have a Samsung? I purchased mine at Wal-Mart in late December 06.

After reading about the first quarter of the textbook, I still feel like I don't have a good grip on this whole thing. It just seems all too complicated after coming from the PSP hacking/modding scene.

Everybody always says take the plunge, but I'm still worried about the costs. After looking in the textbook for the right SATA card or something, I don't think my pc has the right one, but I would need somebody to look at a screenshot of my pc to see.

If this is really not the right forum for these kinds of posts, please tell me where to post this for the appropriate help. Thanks!

Just haven't updated the tutorial since the new drives have been out. I'll update it soon.

All Three Drives

In order from left to right, that is the BenQ, Hitachi, then Samsung drive.

If your only experience is with the PSP, I can see why you would have problems. PSP hacking is too easy. It involves no though process or problem-solving skills, all you are doing is hooking up the PSP to the computer and copying files across. You should already have some computer experience, like the ability to configure a computer's BIOS.

The compatibility list is for the Samsung MS25 drive only. That is why it is in that section. You need to first determine what drive you have , both brand and firmware version.

Thanks for the help.

In this post, many of my questions have been answered so far. People have said my SATA card is ok, now I just need to check the dvd drive ( I have 2) and open my Xbox up to see if its 25 or 28 (That part scares me lol).
