Quick external HDD question

After doing the JTAG on my console, I've decided I'm going to put some of my original xbox games onto the internal HDD and put my 360 back-ups onto an external HDD. I have a console at home that I'm going to JTAG and I've got one to leave at my partners (both have internal HHDs but not really big enough to store everything)

I'll be using the external HDD between the 2. Which would be the best option, a powered USB or Laptop portable style? I've been looking but can't seem to find which would be best.

if u are going to be swapping from one console to another then the easy option is a portable USB HDD. Also u can store your xbox original to your external HDD aswell.
