I'm in the process of modding my xbox 1.6b with a Xecuter 2.6 but i ran into a problem, I lost the pinheader! I wanna do the wire install now, but i already have the LPC rebuild installed and don't want to take it out. How can I do the wire install while using the LPC rebuild? All instructions i've read on the wire install dont involve using the rebuiid. Thanks!

Ok, i did the wire install like the 1.5 but instead soldered the red wire to the ALt 5v. Now the gray wire solders on to the new D0 point on the LPC rebuild, correct? Well, I get a frag. Solder points look all great but it frags when enabled, both banks. Works fine disabled tho. Any suggestions?

Well, you've got some connections right, notably D0 since it does react to the enable/disable switch. Where did you solder the wires? Did you run the conductor through the LPC holes and solder on the bottom, did you just solder on the top surface, etc.? Since the LPC rebuild is on the bottom of the box, if you soldered from the top there might not be the same quality connection to the LPC rebuild that one would get if using the pinheader. Do you have a way to check continuity between the pins on the wire install header and the *outside* solder points of the LPC rebuild?

I soldered from the top, so your thinking soldering from the bottom cuz thats where the LPC rebuild is would be better? I'll give that a shot. Maybe its possible that my chip is bad too but no way to diagnose that.

Oh... one thing I forgot. Apparently reading Fantmx's posts hasn't sunk in completely yet. :) Check that the plugs on the chip to switches cable are securely seated. If they aren't in all the way I think it is possible to FRAG. Could possibly be a bad switch, but most of the time this is not the case. And a bad chip itself is very rare.

Given the way you soldered the wires in if the switch cable plugs look OK then I would take a look at the LPC socket from the bottom of the board. Maybe just touching up the points on the LPC rebuild board that are near the holes will do the trick. My action would be to unsolder the wires that hit the rebuilt holes, push the wire into the hole far enough so that you can solder it from the underside and then attach it there. From the bottom you could still see if the solder joint is making clean contact with both the LPC hole and rebuild board. Since the real goal is to have continuity with the pads on the LPC rebuild board and not the LPC holes themselves this might do it.

ok, i just soldered to the topside, didn't poke the wires through. I'll give undo it and feed the wire thru so that it more or less solders onto the LPC rebuild. Hope thats the prob!
