As long as the micro usb pc pretest works there is no way that the Demon is malfunctioning other than visual damage etc..? Last night I had my demon installed nice and tidy all continuity test checked out but I kept getting unrecognized device in windows and it would boot console but not demon. Turned out I had a short on the QSB so I went a head a removed the Demon and gave it a pretest and it checked out good.

Well yeah, if you've shorted 2 points then it won't work properly.

lol thanks for pointing out the obvious Martin but I was just making sure I didnt cause irreparable damage to my demon. Im going to give it another go tonight from scratch maybe that unrecognized device in windows might be that ribbon issue everyone is having.

It really depends what two points you shorted. However if when removed the DemoN is detecting ok, it shouldn't be a problem.
If you want to test the connection via mini-USB (and ribbon cable), solder ONLY the wires for 5vSB and GND (and of course have the switch set to XB).

Try the cable the other way around, I had this problem with unrecognised device and turning around the cable solved it.

Micro usb still works but I still keep getting unrecognized device error in windows when nothing but ground and red wire soldered. Console boots retail fine but demon wont boot glitch.
I got it working now but now my coolrunner quit blinking green light. It will give a faint green blink and quit
