Hello,

Someone have modded my xbox to LT 2.0

Now i have the VIA PCI card , i wish to know if i can mod to LT 3.0 using it.

I do not have the probe or anything else (CK3) related to the power to connect to the DVD drive but i heard i can connect my xbox to power up the DVD drive (heard also that this could flag my xbox).

I need some clarification please because the videos on YouTube are not clear if the probe is needed for the first time modding only or if i can proceed with modding it with LT 3 without needing the probe.

Edit: forgot to mention i have Lite-On DVD drive on a Phat xbox

The probe is only needed to get the dummy.bin file from your DVD drive. If you have a copy of the dummy.bin all you need to do it flash LT 3.0. I have heard the xbox keeps track of how many times it is powered on without a DVD drive I do not know if it is true

Thanks for the quick reply.

I do not have my original dummy file but i found many uploaded and downloaded one that has been created on the same drive as mine (same Lite On model i mean).

I dunno if i can use that or will i have to extract a new one with a probe.

If i can use the dummy file from the internet , then will i be able to flash my Lite On drive with the PCI card and that's it ?

you can NOT use another persons dummy.bin each DVD drive is married to the xbox motherboard via a unique key, if the keys do not match then the game cannot be decrypted resulting in the infamous Play DVD Error. If you can have the person that flashed LT 2.0 to your drive send you YOUR dummy.bin file then you can use that to upgrade to LT 3.0

YOU cannot use another Key, your Dummy holds a Key, thay key is married to your Xbox motherboard, It will not work using someone Else's Key.. BUT if you don't want Buy a probe etc to get your Key you can make your own.. To make a Probe us an old Xbox power cable and locate the 3.3v and Ground, RUN a self-made prove from Ground and CUT the 3.3v cable and add a On/Off switch, when Jungleflasher asks to Cut power, Touch board then Turn power on, you Hit switch, put your make probe on, the turn power on, when it says success you Pull power out from drive, wait 5 seconds and push it back in and its done, you will then safe you dummy...

ALSO if you want make a more advanced professional probe that works like a dream, Read this tread, made it myself and flashed loads of console's using it...
