i have xbox 1.6 and x3.. everything works i used the x3 bios and evol dashboard.. first question..

should i go with a different dashboard, i keep hearing about avalaunch.. is this so much better?

second question, i want xbmp or xbmc .. where do i put it on the xbox.. im logged via ftp but im just not sure where it goes? in fact any games or apps that i want to load in where do they go?

umm ok sorry one more quick question - say i load abunch of apps into the xbox, can i switch dashboards without loosing all that data, and will the apps be compatible?

i got avalaunch 0.49.3 loaded, thanks for yor recommendation, i like this one alot better than evol.

in the menu it has media center, but nothing goes when i try to select it. im guessing that i have to ftp that app in there, but i dont know on like which partition to load it. just throw in in C like i did with the dashboard?

also - when avalaunch loads it... it has a msgbox telling me that F: has 0mb on it, its the factory 10gb hdd in my xbox, do i have to repartition anything?

you can download xbmc in avalaunch in one of the menus....among other useful apps......and secondly you need to setup the F: partition....go into x3cl and enable the F: partition and then format it

Flashing a Phillips DVD drive

Hello all,

I'm new to Xbox Modding and found this forum and hopefully you can all help!

My Xbox is now having the open tray error, Ive tried replacing the laser but had no luck,

Ive looked all over the internet and found many tutorials on how to flash drives but I'm so overwhelmed with all the information i have no idea where to start.

I have a Philips BenQ drive, (original) and a new one (same drive exactly)

Im unsure of how to place it into 'mode b' do i do this with SLAX method or crosswire trick? Also im unsure of how to flash it. What apps do I use for it?

Any help would be great, thank you.

Mode B is for Hitachi's only.. When you replaced the Laser did you desolder the solder point?

Im pretty sure i didn't see anything in the guide i was using about soldering. What part did i need to solder? Thank you

Is that what i need to do on the new laser that i have?

Ive had a look at all my lasers, I have three, my old laser, new laser and new drive all have no solder on them. Have i got a bogus drive or lasers?

If that doesnt work, what are my next steps, thank you.

If you just want to flash your drive over... Benq easy:

Using Jungle Flasher

Under MTK Flash Tab

BenQ unlock......
Read.........
Save your Firmware.....
Outro...

New Drive (same you said)
Load Original Firmware under Target Firmware
Unlock BenQ....
Write....
Outro..

No need to read new Drive unless it's different (Make easier to Spoof)
If you want LT Plus you'll need to download it

Hmmm, seems really easy to do, so i guess i plug in my DVD drive via sata, flash with Jungle flasher and away we go? no mode b required? Simple as that?

yeah pretty much... you can use your xbox for Power just Plug sata in your PC...

hope u like gettting banned. crazy misguided u. u should never use the xbox to power the dvd drive while flashiing because it will flag u for not have a dvd drive connected while the xbox is on.

no it is not a rumor. if u dont have a dvd drive connected while the 360 is powered on u will get flagged and eventaully banned

Bull Crap, So you Tell me Every Xbox out there thats been Repaired and Booted without a Drive to Test will be banned ... I Call Bull sh*t..
