I have no experience with flashing drives, but was thinking about doing it on my rjtag....... so i guess my question is since i have the dvd key for my liteon drive do i still need the probe to flash....... Already have x360usb pro. but dont have the probe.

U need to put the drive into vendor mode before u can read or write to it. Even though u have the DVD key from your freshly decrypted key vault :wink: U need the ck3 probe to Place the drive in vendor mode. Good luck.
ok just wanted to make sure...... lucky me I have an extra drive out of rrod system that matches, that i can try this on, just so i dont mess up my stock drive if i make a mistake. also is there a schematic for the probe, i hate waiting on stuff to show up in the mail.

That's a good method to use. Read the jungleflasher PDF it's got instructions on how to spoof another drive as a liteon so u can test u'r target firmware to avoid bricking u'r stock one :smile:
there are tutorials on making u'r own probe but they're cheap enough and the build quality is good.
Edit:
Just realised u don't need probe 3 to put liteon into vendor mode, I'd just done a bad flash recovery on a sammy and got confused. But it's probably a good idea to get a full dump from u'r liteon anyway.
