if you mess up modding the firmware can you just buy a new dvd drive then xbox 360 will work fine again???

If you mess up the modding which you should not do if you read the tutorials correct, but if you do then these can be fixed depending on what drive you have if the only thing you do right is make a safe backup of your original.bin
So you should not have to buy a new drive.
Take your time reading this tutorial until you are ready to go ahead with the modding if you have any doubt don't do it.

this is a very common one.
by just modding your 360 you are breaking the rules of your terms of service between you and microsoft for xbox live but saying that to this day nobody has been banned from xbox live so it is safe but expect to be banned at some point in the future.
We as a communty do not know what the future holds but if you expect the worst you will not be dissapointed
