Hey, I was thinking about purchasing the Blaster 360. If I'm not mistaken, it lets you play burned games, correct?

Anyways, my question was, will it work with a hitachi drive? And, if so, is it easier to burn games since I have the Blaster, or would I still have to go through the complicated process?

Would it just be easier to flash?

all the blaster does is let you flash your drive without opening the 360's case, so its up to you weather you want to spend money on somthing thats pretty pointless, rephrase that you still av to open the case to install it, the blaster is just a quicker way of upgrading your current firmware or downgrading it.

The blast only makes it easier to flash after the first time and is not of much use with a Hitachi drive. You cannot make backups with a Hitachi, which is one of the main features of a blaster imo. The backup burning process is the same, as the discs are still being read by the modified firmware on your dvd-rom.

It is a waste of money imo, especially since you have a hitachi.

Thanks for your replies. So, the Hitachi drive is pretty useless with the Blaster?

Okay, with that out of the way, is there any possible way to flash the hitachi drive to play burned games? Or do I have to buy the samsung?

(hope i worded that correctly)

So I'm following textbook's guide. It's a great guide by the way.

If I'm not mistaken, when I flash it with the Maximus Garyopa from xbins, it will be able to play burned games, correct?

I took a dvd-rw drive out of my spare computer, (one in current rig just....stopped working.), and backed up my games, using some Memorex cd's I got at target.

Came out perfect.
Oh, and you guys have some amazing tutorials here.
