Quick v1.6 LPC Rebuild question

I have one quick question that isn't answered in any tutorial or post. I have a 1.6 box and my Xecuter 3 is on the way. I've been studying the install guide on http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin16.htm and I understand everything except this:

I understand the total procedure but I have a question where do you get all that blue wire that's being used in the picture? I don't see it in the parts list at the beggining of the install guide. Do I have to buy it at like a Radioshack?

Thanx :)

The wires you have to purchase from somewhere else, they are not provided.

Now when you purchase the X3 chip, you will also get a purple LPC rebuild board free.

You can use this board instead of the wires.

read the "X3 v1.6 Rebuild PCB" sticky on how to solder the purple board

Or use the wire from the Wire Install loom, just cut pieces off, i get 2.5 installs out of every loom. I cant stand the pcb rebuild but thats just me, i love the wires.

Replace Lite-On 74850C drive with 83850C mechanics possible?

SO I have a bad tracking motor and/or laser pick up assembly.

Is it possible to swap the original XBOX360 Lite-On 74850C circuit board into a new Lite-On 83850C? I need to do this because the original drive is faulty. Is this possible? I really don't want to flash anything or change the drive keys. I just want to get the unit working again. It should work if the mechanics are compatible...but I'm unsure.

I realize there are probably "calibration values" in the original firmware for the original mechanics but I'll take my chances.

Thanks in advance!

well im not positive but, im pretty sure that if you switch the circuit board, that brings over the key from the other drive too, so it will not work, but someone correct if im wrong

Yes - no problems doing that at all!
The calibration data is test data from manufacture and is not used!

The hardware in those drives is identical - swapping boards will work if the fault isnt in the PCB

Re: Replace Lite-On 74850C drive with 83850C mechanics possi

All,

I have a similar problem. I tried installing my latest game to my hard drive, and it was giving me dirty disc errors. So when I tried to boot the game by itself, it just went to a black screen. After trying it multiple times, it finally started installing it to the hard drive, but I noted a high pitch sound during the installation process. It sounds to me that the laser is going bad.

Long story short, I want to replace this drive. I think there's two options for me, but someone please double check me:

1) replace my 74850c lens
2) purchase a new 74850c drive and swap the PCB

One last thing. Since I saved my Lite-OFW.bin, couldn't I just flash that straight over my new drive? I'm just trying to figure out the best and easiest way to replace what looks to be my failing drive. Any feed back is appreciated. Thanks!

You can do either. Though with option 2 you dont have to swap PCB, just flash the drive with your dvd key. Also, purchasing a Benq/Liteon Lens would be way cheaper.

Get new drive and flash. Much easier I think. (if you know how/done before flashing...)
