R-JTAG CR4 XL Falcon Not Booting

I dont know maybe the cr4 could be retraced if the ic isn't internally damaged. I had a friend short his demon on something and it wouldn't boot turned out something shorted a pin on the demons nand right where the cap sits on the edge of the demon and fried the pin all the way up to the silicon. it had a tiny nub that I could barely see with my magnifying scope and I was able to solder a tiny solid piece of wire from the nub down to the cap where the trace led to and it booted right up after that. I doubted the nub but the nub pulled through.;)

There was indeed a nub but I decided long term that replacing it was the way to go. I got the new CR4 XL today and got further but still no dice. I had no soldering issues this time! No lifted pads, no lost components, no burned up pins.

At first I had to flash my stock NAND back with the Xell. I didn't have my original files with me so I tried dumping the NAND again and it failed as soon as it started. Even though it worked 3 days ago, I continuity checked the NAND CLs to JR Programmer and it was all good. I went and got the original files from my home and wrote the Xell reloaded files. During the write a few errors occurred, but on a 2nd try it completed without any.

The CR4 XL install went well. I got all the wires soldered correctly. During boot the green LED on the CR4 blinked as expected, but no video output and after awhile I got a 3 LED RROD, error code 0022. I messed around with DIP and jumper settings on the CR4 and got 1&2 LED RRODs at different points. Most of the settings I was trying got the same 0022. I'm aware the 0022 is GPU/HANA reflow but I'm skeptical of this considering it worked recently. I'm going to re-inspect the PCB tomorrow to make sure there are no mistakes or shorts.

Questions for you guys:
1. I'm using HDMI. I've read people have issues with HDMI, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be causing RROD. Can anyone confirm that for me?
2. Would a failing or damaged NAND fail at reads but complete writes?
3. Should the ROL spin like stock? I've seen it spin once with the CR4 connected, the rest of the time it's center only until RROD.
5. Should I try tuning the underside QSB as well?

I know I've got to post pictures and do some more researching, but I thought I'd post an update before crashing. More updates to come tomorrow.

we do need pictures of the new install, And I suggest you write back your stock nand and disconnect the 5v red wire from the cr4 and 110% confirm that the console is booting stock and make sure that it is before continuing.
Also when testing the cr4 trying to get it to glitch/boot you do have the fans and shroud in their place right?

I just flashed back the original NAND, removed the 5V from the CR4 and it booted no problem. I tried 5x and all successful boots so I'm 110% sure

I did not know that the shroud needs to be in place, I've got the fan connected and sitting there without the shroud. However, it booted fine stock w/o shroud or fan.

Here are the new install pics. I asked our lab technician to look at my soldering under a microscope and he verified the connections looked good. Sorry I didn't get any microscope pics this time, but I can take some later today.

I know there's a lot of extra wire on the CR4 side, I planned to trim it down after I got it working.

Also, here are some screenshots and a new JRunner log:

I'm pretty confused as to why I can't read the NAND, but writes work fine.

Also, while I was stock I checked out my Dashboard version, 2.0.17150.0

Well, NAND reads are working at my computer at home. I am going to laugh, and possibly cry, if it my work computer was causing some issue. Anyone heard of certain computers not working with NAND-X? Same USB cable and programmers on both.

It works! I took the original NAND from my home computer and started from scratch. I got Xell up, wrote the XeBuild Image and now I'm booting to dashboard within 10 seconds.

I'm a happy camper :cool2:
