just the standard x-clamp fix to help with temps, as of now it has the factory x-clamps because I do not have a suitable replacement or the 14mm screws.

This is just a lame way of getting cold joints to get some contact, it wont fix any temprature related issues and its probably going to do more harm than good for the motherboard. The x-clamps are designed to work and they do work.

Ah I was unaware of that, thanks for the heads up. temps: cpu 113.4, gpu 118.8, mem 120.3, case 88.8 - all of that frustration over some simply thermal paste.

Although apparently that did not fix it as it just froze again, temps hover around the numbers in previous post but still freezing!?!? Maybe I will try the smc edit

Update: Well I had the console on for an hour and a half, temps stayed pretty much the same as the post above. Loaded some stuff onto hdd via ftp, cleared game date in fsd, re-did game paths and scanned. played an xbla game for a little bit to monitor temps, all looked normal. Tried to play black ops 2 and it froze during load, got a little bit father than that in ufc 3 but eventually froze just before the match started. I am willing to try the edit smc and have read the entire thread but still a little unclear on how to do it.

ya it was all on the same falcon. This thread has been solved but it did not change on the main title as I edited it. In the end it was a combination of redoing the thermal paste and editing the smc power setting from 8280 to 8180. Works like a boss now, I been playing all types of games with no issues. If you start your own support topoc insted of hi-jacking this one, you might get some support. This way its only going to bring you an infraction, just so you know (yeah you do know, you have read the rules and agreed on them).

Yes that would help, Falcons can be fussy and when you get your first one it can be time consuming searching through loads of posts to get the info, a sticky or relevant info in the install guides maybe would help?
