ive pulled this old jtag out of the back of my cuboard that i messed up a few years ago to have another go at it

anyway i found the problem id nocked the tiny r1r1 cap of so i bridged the connection and it now reads the nand perfectly and i got 2 matching dumps straight away

is this cap needed and would it mess the nand dumps up if it was missing ?

here is a pic

If it wasn't needed, it would be there.

r1r1 is a resistor. The 'r' at the start indicates this. I suggest checking another board for this resistor to get the value from it.

it's ok now i jtagged it anyway worked fine
then found a old board and took the resistor off that
and resoldered it back on just to be on the safe side
thanx for the reply though ;)

33Ohms is hardly anything, however it would double as a fuse if too much load went through. Therefore bridging it, long term, wouldn't have been advisable.

the r1r1 is 33ohms hope you replaced it with the right value resistor..

yea i replaced it with the 1 from the same spot on a xenon donor board

but im getting a new problem now, when the motherbord is out of the metal casing the temps stay around the 55 mark
but as soon as i put it back in the casing the gpu temps shoot up in fsd and just keeps rising any ideas

No Botha, this was a store return I bought off eBay
It looked like it had never been used apart from a few specs of dust on the fan
Anyway when I removed the gpu heat sink I found there was a thin sheet of foil between the gpu and the thermal paste that must of been left during the manufacturing process
So I'm not sure if that might of contributed to the problem

Replace XClamps with bolts and the thermal paste, or at the very least replace the thermal paste and make sure the XClamps are tight. Taking apart a Phat and removing the board breaks the seal on the heatsinks and crappy thermal tape, once that seal is broken thermal conductivity is totally gone.

LOL! I have seen this on sealed RROD first-launch Xenon's, you have to wonder if that was the big reason the first gen consoles died so fast.
