Ive got a Halo 3 edition Zephyr console. I've wired it using AUD_CLAMP and tray_open but I get random e79 all the time. When the console actually boots all my settings are reset and I have to run the first start setup again. I've searched and have seen lots of topics about zephyrs and random e79s but they all suggest using AUD_CLAMP, which I already do. I have the same issues on all versions of freeboot.

Which version of freeBOOT are you using? And which program you use to make the freeBOOT image?

Dash version 13599 and I used Easy Freeboot v.5.3.2.0. Flashed with a Nand-X.

When you put the console in the case, is it possible that one of the wires is making contact with another point causing the E79 error. My Zephyr was having the same problem when the wire going to TRAY_OPEN was making contact with another point.

Can you post a picture of your wiring? I would imagine that is at fault.

Note: E79 is always a NAND or wiring issue.

1. Are you using diodes or resistors?

2. Use XeBuild GUI to build a new 14699 image and write it to your console.

See if option no.2 fixes the problem.

M AzeeM K: I'm using the nand-x qsb for my jtag. I'll build a new image, flash it and report back.

cab0747: I've got electrical tape covering anything that could possibly make contact with anything else. I'd rather not take the 360 apart, but I'm 110% sure the wiring is solid, I've had it checked.

I appreciate all the help!
