Allrighty, got my X3 soldered last nite. Eventhough my soldering is embarrassing at the best everything seems to be working fine.

Just some random observations first. I was a bit surprised not to find any kind of documentation with the chip. The FAQ's here tell how to get the chip installed and running but if you don't have a net connection or computer up and running.. you're pretty much screwed. Second thing is that the bios seems to have an insane amount of features which aren't explained anywhere, the chip practically screams for a manual. Other than that, can't really find anything else to complain :)

Then the questions as I promised. Is there a way to adjust the X3 Config Live screen position? I'm missing one text row from the top, I'm guessing it's the bios version and something that looks like the currently active bank. I don't know how difficult this kind of feature would be to implement or even if it's worth the trouble.

While I was at installing the chip I decided to put the external switch (the basic one that comes with the chip) in too, with hdd and lan leds. Now, everything works fine as I said but, damn, the hdd led is bright.. I think I'm going blind or something just from seeing it flashing from the corner of my eye all the time. Anyone know easy/simple way to dim it a little bit?

That's all for now, thanks to the teamxecuter for the awesome chip and bios.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. One more.

When am I supposed to hit the white button to get to the X3 Config Live or pull the trigger to launch the quicklaunch app? I'm rebooting 2-3 times before succesfully triggering the desired function. Yeh, I suck.

to dim it, you could put a resistor on it, but i don't recommend that... it's not too bright believe me, i have brighter led's in the lid of my old xbox. you will get used to it, but if you really get annoyed, just put a VERY low resistor on it. actually, i don't know if thats possible because the LED probably runs off of the same wire and voltage as the lan LED so it wuld become dimmer, and also i don't know what else runs off of that. so basically just get used to it, as it is working fine. as the saying goes, "If it aint broke, don't fix it!"

i dont know nothin' about the screen position but about dimming the led you could do what bvic01 sayed but if you are too lazy (like me :D ) you could just put something on the LED (say ... some glue ?) i know thats a stupid idea but its alot easier and faster than puting a resistor on it (for me at least :D) ... but still i dont think its that bad anyway

and yah, you gotta start holding the white button when the screen with the "X" and the "X3 rox my box"comes up until the X3 Config Live screen shows up (thats how i do it  )

It's best to have the controller in your hand when you hit the power button and hold the white from the moment the flubber animation starts. Same with the trigger launch function. As for the manual, I beleive there is one in the making. Just keep checking the news page for updates.
