Hi guys. First Post.

Firstly, thanx for ALL the info, from all. I have done about 10 rgh's on friends slim consoles thanks to 99% advice, tuts etc on this forum. Also, all the solutions to some of the issues i had ( alot of issues :D ) came from this here forum. So thanks again.

Please excuse the lengthy post. Im REALLY desperate.

Tools used:
Nand-X on v3 ( wired for nand dump )
Coolrunner
nandpro 3
360 MultiBuilder 0.7

I am however STUCK :( with 2 slims with similar symptoms :

Slim 1 . Switched on and tested before disassembly. Checked dash version etc.

After disassembly, i soldered on wires for nand dump.
running 1 dump was fine, however the console switched on after the dump completed.I obviously panicked and switched all off. Plugged psu back in and nandX and dumped again. Same issue.
Plugging in the power cord for the psu would then switch console on automatically. fan would start spinning faster and faster, then console switches off.green light flickers, then it stays on after fan spins up and down randomly. re-checked solder etc, all looked fine. unplugged all for 10 minutes, plugged back in, console stayed off. dumped again, after dump finished same thing, console switched on.
Compared dumps and no differences.
PS: ONLY psu cable was plugged in...no ROL pcb, hdmi ,lan. Only psu for standby power.
Created ecc. plugged psu cable in, console stayed off. Wrote ecc and all went well. installed cr. it booted to xell for about 10~15 seconds as i was getting ready to ftp cpu key etc. It then shutdown.
Now, im struggling to switch it on. I have gone through the solder over and over. Removed cr. Everything.
What can i do? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Any troubleshooting tips i can get, i would attempt on the Slim #2, which suffers from something similar.

Thanks for reading all.
PS I am currently at work and will Definitely post pics this evening as i know its difficult without seeing my handy work :)

Thanks again

Thanx for the reply. Gonna start using jrunner soon, but after hitting this issue with 2 slims in a row, i first want to get the problem solved as it is probably something im doing.
And i dont want to go ahead until im certain these 2 are resolved.
Thanx again for response

Thanx seanr28 for the reply.
I think i forgot to mention 1 thing: When i dumped the nand 3 times, after every 3ff block read, the console switched on by itself.
Taking note of the above., i created the ecc image and flashed it to console. Now console has no power.
When pushing the power button, it beeps but no fan or lights..nothing.
Could it be a bad nand write? Would a reset of the nand be possible to solve the power issue at least? I resoldered the nand wiring and removed coolrunner.
See pics attached. What would my next step be. I would like to do as you say, get the original nand back on and make sure everything works again before going ahead.
Please advise.
Thanx again

Yup. Hitting power button just makes the beep. No fan, no lights, nothing.
Thanx for the reply
PS: Remember, this console booted xell, got ready to ftp keys etc. It then shutdown by itself after 15 seconds in xell, and now this power issue.

Gonna attempt that now. Also, if i get errors writing to the nand halfway, and after that console doesnt power on, no lights etc, but beeps when pushing power button, could the cause be a badly written image. In other words, would a bad nand cause the console to not power? Would this be reason enough to reset the nand somehow?

I think you've corrupted the SMC, so a bad NAND reset is needed (shorting the pins etc) or erasing using a NAND programmer.

Did you redo your soldering after having the problem as I see nothing soldered to STBY_CLK.

@seanr28. Did just that. Cleaned up all, fluxed the points properly, re-installed nand wiring, wrote back the original dump.......... and voila!!!! Boots to retail no probs, no power issues.
Please note however that this is slim #2 :D that has similar problem to slim #1 :D.
Gonna do the same to slim 1 lol.

@Martin C. Thanx for the reply. As stated above, i am first gonna re-check all....AGAIN.
Concerning slim #2 though. It boots to Retail dash without issue. Created ecc with newest JRunner, but cannot get it to glitch. Gonna look into this a bit later. My concern is that the cr red light is bright, but when attempting to glitch, the green light is super dim when it tries glitching. As soon as i put some pressure on the corner located at 3.3v and ground on the cr, the green light flashes green as per normal. Have resoldered ( with flux, my new best friend :D ), tried new wiring, nothing. I have a spare cr which i am trying this evening, but any idea what that could be?
Thanx again to all for the assistance so far. Got 1 of the 2 slims alive again at least :D

OJA, the STBY_CLK is soldered at alternate point underneath the board. Pad got pulled (long story, wifey to blame :D ) but is still intact. By intact i mean it is still connected to the trace on either side, just lifted off the board.

hi guys. me again.
anybody know why the cr would have bright red led as per normal, but when powering console for xell, the green led flashes very dim for about half a second evey 5 seconds, as if its not grounded or powered properly. ( it should be as i rechecked power and ground)
thanx again for all help

Got it sorted...Finally!! Thanx again for all the suggestions. I think im gonna hammer on what Martin C always hammers on........CHECK YOUR SOLDER!!!!!
Anyways, slim #2 fine now, glitching within 15 secs all the time.
NOW.....slim #1 :(
Removed all wiring, FLUX all solder spots, redid nand wires, wrote original nand for testing purposes. Booted to retail dash, then froze after 5 seconds on the dash.
switched off, unplugged, plugged back in, switched on, got to xbox logo then froze.
Gonna re-check all today. PS: This is the trinity with the R3B15 point lifted but not off. Its lifted off the board but still attached to the trace either side. Could this be causing the headache, or should i be looking somewhere else. If so, could i solder from the resistor straight onto the trace (thin wire)
Thanx again for all the help so far.

PS: When i wrote the original nand back, it wrote perfectly up to block 16 or so, then SUPER SLOW MO. Took about 40 minutes to write the rest. It wrote without errors but like i said, took FOREVER. Any idea. ( Hopefully just nand issue :D )

Firstly, thanx to all for suggestions, tips etc. Got slim #2 going also.
Seems the stdby_clk was the culprit. See my fix attached :D (dont mind the flux, must still clean and tidy up.)
All i can say is, CHECK YOUR SOLDER, and take your time when doing it. flux...... and clean always.

Thanks again to all, i hope my bad experiences helps somebody out there.
:D:D

Oja, 1 more thing. Martin C, i read on 1 of the posts ( cant remember where exactly ) where u guys were speaking of a usb microscope for cheap on ebay? could you lemme know item number pls.
Appreciate everything.
Thanx again
