Bummer, I ordered my 2.6 CE Solderless kit from Modwhiz.com Saturday and paid for next day FedEx. Got it today and they accidently shipped the solder kit... bummer. I emailed the sales team and hopefully I will get the solderless part shipped FedEx so I can get it installed and rolling.

Rats... I was really geared to get it installed.

While you have the time do yourself a favor and read about installing a chip, flashing a chip and what to do after. You will save yourself a lot of time and headaches when the time comes.

Thanks. Actually I have been and I thought I had it figured out, but now the more I read, the more I'm getting confused, so I'm not sure what I need to do once I get it installed. I thought the 2.6CE came with a bios already installed since it says it will play backups, but now I'm not sure if it does.

it comes with flashbios installed which will NOT play backups, flash bios is used to flash a hacked bios like xecuter x2 5035 which will play backups.

you will need to download x2 5035 from xbins there are 2 versions one for 1.0 - 1.5 and one for versions 1.6 and 1.6b, make sure you use the correct ones. instructions on how to flash are on the home page of this site.

Just so you don't get confused looking for the files, both the 1.0-1.5 and 1.6 versions are included in the same RAR archive. When you get to the Xecuter BIOS folder on xbins I think you'll want to look in the "multibios" or maybe "multiver" folder. That's where you'll find 5035.

Directions on using xbins are linked in my sig.

Ok, I had already downloaded the x2.5035 for my 1.1 Xbox. I un-rar'ed the file and found the correct bios. I read the read me and it didn't say what to do with the files. I found some tutorials in the Help Section, but they are for the x3 chips.

I've created the dummy file (dummy.bin) and I see how you need to burn the FLASH CD, but this is for the x3 and is labled as such. Can I do the same setup for the x2 chips?

Thanks

Found in the changelog section of the README1ST.TXT file-
[5030 BETA]
- added: x2config.ini now first searched on F: and, if not found, on E: - if again not found then defaults are used

[5022 BETA]
- Now parses x2config.ini from the hard drive to give multiple bios customizations (Copy to root of E)

Also, I don't know where you got your 5035 from but when I downloaded X2.5035.rar from xbins just last week I had the following files when uncompressed-
lba48.txt
README1ST.TXT
USE.THE.X2CONFIG.FILE.IN.THIS.RELEASE
x2config.ini
x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin
x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin

The USE.THE... file is actually an empty folder. I would recommend only getting your files from xbins, it's the trusted source for modded xbox software.

Ok, I have a CD ready to burn with bios.bin ("x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin") and dump.bin.

The dump.bin is 100MB and I created it with "Dummy File Creator".

Is there anything else I need to put on the CD or am I ready to go?

Thanks in advanced

WooHoo!!! My solderless piece came in today... only thing is I've been scheduled for some minor surgery early next week. I'll be out a little bit, I'm thinkin I should wait to jump on this until after that? How long will it take once I get the chip in to get back up and running.

Updating the Bios looks simple enough, but I'm not sure how involved installing the Dashboard will be. Once the Dashboard is installed, will that be it? Will I be up and running?

Thanks!

After flashing the bios, you'll need a bootable cd with a dashboard capable of ftp. If you can get an auto-installer like slayer's evox 2.6 it will be easier for you, it already has the applications and programs you'll need like Evox build 3935, Avalaunch, dvd2xbox, XBMC, XBMP, Emulators and some tools...

Happy Thanksgiving all (Gobble Gobble)

Well, two weeks ago they cut me open like a Thanksgiving Day Turkey (Hernia). I'm finally well enough to mod my Xbox. Today is the big day. After stuffing down some bird and watching some football today, my Brother and I will dive in and go for it. Got the solderless kit, got my CD with the bios.bin ("x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin") and dump.bin files on it and finally hunted down the slayer's evox 2.6 and have it burned to a Verbatum 16x DVD-R.

Anyone have any other sugestions, please bring it on before we whack at my Xbox like the Doctor did me (smile). Hopefully, we will have a fully working box by the end of the day and I can finally transfer 3 years of saved games over to my PC and get them backed up to a CD for safe keeping (this is my 3rd Xbox and I'm tired of loosing all my saved games).

NOTE: Ordered my Xbox 360 yesterday. They said I'm 3rd on the list to get one. Maybe sometime next week I can get it. WooHoo! and yes, before anyone ask, I've already been to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardscompatibility.htm#download and downloaded the software to update the 360 for Xbox game support.
