RE: Flashbios version

Howdy folks,
I am led to believe by what ive been reading that the version Xbox i have is a 1.6b. I have the Xcalibur chipset and Hynix ram, with a manufacture date of 2004-09-21. I have also read that i would need FlashBios 3.0.3 to have success etc. The chip i have has FlashBios 3.0.0. Is it possible to update the Flashbios version from 3.0.0 to 3.0.3 and is it even necessary because i have succesfuly flashed the box as it is, which kinda tells me maybe it is only a 1.6.

Thanx in Advance

I have a 1.6b also, with 3.01 on it. Keep booting from backup rom and you should be able to flash it. I made a 1 meg Flashbios/bios.bin file and a 256k Flashbios/bios.bin disk and tried to flash a bank. It never took but i was eventually able to flash with the x3 bios. I dont know if any of this really matters.

Just keep flashing it and it should work. I tried several combinations with bios size for flashing and it finally worked. I later flashed the backup to 3.03.

I had to flash it about 7 or 8 times before it took. 3 of the 8 failed and 4 of them took but no video. It eventually worked. I know I tried it with switch 1 on, again with switch 1 and 2 and also with all off.

Re: firmware and spoofing

Mate regardless of what firmware is on the drive you are 'given' you will need to flash new firmware to it if you plan on using it as a replacement for your existing drive in your xbox 360 console.
iXtremeLT v1.1 is the latest for BenQ drives, it is readily available from the usual places.

For example :

Software used is Jungleflasher for this task.

Current Drive in 360 : Samsung
Replacement Drive : BenQ

What you would need to do to achieve the above example is dump the firmware from your samsung drive (to get drive key etc) to use as source firmware for your replacement drive (BenQ)
When you flash the BenQ, you load the hacked iXtremeLT v1.1 firmware as target in the firmware tool 32 tab, load the firmware you dumped as source in same tab, then click spoof source to target, this copies all the necessary data from you original drive (key etc) to the hacked firmware and spoofs it to appear as a Samsung also, so, in effect, your xbox 360 thinks the Samsung still resides in the console when in fact it's a BenQ, spoofed to appear as a Samsung.
Hope that's not too confusing for you and helps you understand a little better.
I also suggest you download and read the fanstastic new version of the Official Jungleflasher Tutorial, which you can get from 360mods right here :

BenQ LT can be dumped the same way as stock firmware.
