Hey guys.
So I'm doing a direct wire JTAG install and I'm having issues. First I couldb't get a good ground solder so I went for the alternative point and eventually got it to stick. Got a good read with NANDPRO and went to do another. I think at that point my ground came loose. I resoldered every single wire with a 40 watt iron instead and all looks shiny and nice. I'll update and post photos in a bit in case I'm mising something. Sure I did some on the bottom of the MB and the ground on the other point but otherwise a normal install. It seemed easier this way instead of being cramped and running a greater risk of bridging. Either way now I can only get "flash controller not detected". I'm wondering if maybe the ground came off during my second read and this somehow upset my NAND. I tried booting, with my flasher disconnected of course, and got all green lgihts and working everything. So perhaps it is my solder. What should I do? I have a multimeter and was wondering if anybody could guide me through the best way to verify things with it. On the surface things look good but I want to be sure. If the NAND is upset, should I short the pins in the top? Is there any real danger to this provided I actually short the right ones? I feel like that could have happened but don't want to try it and fry my board. I'll take some photos in a bit and let the more experienced members of this board take a look.

I'm doing it over USB. THe black wire that connects to the ground on the board is the one I mean. THat point was difficult to melt as the via is connected to the ground plane or so I was told. I'm guessing my soldering is at fault as well somewhere.

Yea I know. I'm going to try and get better ones tomorrow on the good camera. I tested for continuity through the points and also for grounding and all checked out. The joints themselves looks shiny and fully contacted. I'm going to wire up another xenon and see if it reads. If it doesn't guess I blew the SPI. I'm considering sending it to somebody with a little more experience if things continue to get worse.

Your soldering job isnt the worst that I have ever seen. However, it isnt the best either.

How are you grounding the connection? I have never had an issue getting a ground to stick as you can use any area of the metal shell around the console.

the spare wire coming out could be your issue. Might be bridging a connection somewhere. Try cleaning up the solder job and exposing less wire. If I had to put money on where I thought the problem is, this is where it would go.

Just a final thought, how long are your wires? since you just showed the soldering, for all we know, it could be 12 feet away. Try to keep it short.
