My friend asked me to install a chip for him i's a X3.
The Xbox is a 1.6.
I solder everything on the board using the Header pin.
I get two lights on the Chip and I get the HD light and I also get a frag.
The Frag is consistent even when I remove the Chip.
I made sure to attach the 1.5v red line thingy.
I have triple checked all my points and still no boot.
This is the first X3 I have dealt with.
I mostly do TSOP's and I Don't enjoy 1.6 versions.
Any pointers from any of you seasoned vets.

If it still frags after taking chip off it's probably a solder splash!
you take chip out it should boot, unless you lifted a trace or you have a splash. Check, double check, and Triple check.

Hey,
You didn't mention that you rebuilt the LPC. Did you do that?

I did do all that fancy LPC Rebuild.
My friend bought the LPC Rebuild for the SmartXX
and I had to use the 30G wire that came with it to hook-up the Header to all those little via's.
I am not familiar with the term Splash.
Sounds like you are referring to like having to much solder on some of the connections.

Bingo, so you used the lpc rebuild kit? or did you rebuild the lpc with the wires? You desolder the lpc to install the pin header? and if your fragging with or without the chip installed you've either lifted a trace or have some solder dropped on the board aka splash
