GOD HELP ME. I just recently installed an xecuter 3CE to my XBOX 1.6, the install is fine and i get the FlashBIOS 3.0.1 screen. BUT when it boots up and looks for the flash type i get this message saying:

READ ONLY??? MANF= 0x09, DEV= 0x00

Upon looking for help with this at teamxecuter/fashbios , they determined it was my flash protect being on, naturally i turned it off and thought that would fix it. However i still ge tthe same error message, does ANYONE KNOW ANY OTHER WAY TO FIX THIS?? Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated.

Unplug the external switch and try booting the chip with the protect/unprotect switch on the chip itself in both positions.

If you're getting this error still with the external switch removed and the protech/unprotect switch in either position on boot, then it could be a solder issue. You can easily test if you have another chip you can try in its place.

What do you mean by "But when it boots up"? You said you get the flash bios 3.0.1 screen right? Then what are you doing? Using a disc? Flashing via http? You do know there is no bios on the chip and you have to put it on there yourself right?

EXPLANATION

I mean that when i turn my xbox on. the xternal switches set at off off off off off, and the x3 logo being purple, the flash bios screen is the first thing i see and it comes up like this:

The message im supposed to get is this one:

I didnt use a disc or anything that happened the first time i turned it on after modding it. Then i was trying to flash via disc and it kept saying "no flash bios upgrade detected...halting!" or something like that..So i researched and found out my screen was like the first image above, and should look like the second image above.

You need to check either your soldering or the chip itself. Something is telling the chip that it's still protected when it's not. Possible scenarios:

1. switch socket on chip is damaged (you could have a bent pin which is forcing the chip to stay protected.

2. switch on the chip itself could be faulty/bridged. Check this too.

3. LPC Soldering is bad causing FlashBIOS to misread the chip.

Hey Martin, first off thanks for deleteing that stupid crap. Second thanks ALOT for your help!! Even though i STILL cant get this piece of junk going.....its so aggravating, ive checked solder 100 times over, ive wiggled, ive plugged, unplugged, checked and rechecked. i swear i have a bad chip...i just dont get it, im at the point where i just want to buy a premodded or just an xbox so i can play halo 2....GOD..

Your best bet now is to look at trying another chip. Either a 2.6 or an X3 should do the trick.

So, an update is in order. I scrapped my old mobo, got crystal edition xbox, the xecuter3 and xapt3r 1.6 and VOILA, happier then an old man at a preschool.
