Hi,

I am having trouble reading my nand (I know there are a million threads about this, I have read them all).

The general consensus seemed to be 9 times out of 10 its a soldering issue, Im wondering what the other 1 is?

I only ask because I have tried to dump the nand on 4 differnt xboxes (Slim, Flacon and two Zephyrs) and two builds of my computer Windows 7 64 and 32bit and another seperate computer altogether runnning XP.

I also tried using both LPT and USB, usb using the nand-x and LPT using a cable I made, with the usb I get the "Looking for usb device" error and with LPT I get the "Could Not Detect a Flash Controller" error I assume they are the same thing?

I have used a Multimeter as in these threads http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77908&highlight=nand-x+multimeter http://acwww.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55136.

All my readings are the same as they have.

Sorry I know thats a bit long winded but ive tried loads of stuff and would like a bit of help please

Ive tried using Jtag tool, NandPro 20a, NandPro 20b, NandPro 20d, NandPro 20e and NandPro 30a.

My Nand-x shows in the device manager as "Xecuter Nand-x USB"

Thanks for the reply :)

Try this: you have 7 wires to solder. Don't solder all of them on top of the board.
On slim for example solder all of them in the bottom side, excepto for number 5 (top of the board).
This way you make sure you are getting a connection with the actual track. You can see the tracks ending in the points. Just solder each point (1,2,3,4,5,6,g) in the side which you can see the track from that point. Hope you understand what i am saying :)

Thanks I think i know what you mean ill give it a try,

Pics of your soldering please.
Its not soldered at the moment as ive been chopping and changing box/usb lpt. I can resolder and take it. I have used the Multimeter so does that not elimanate a soldering issue?

Thanks.

Nandpro usb -r16 nand.bin or Nandpro lpt -r16 nand.bin
I'm assuming that you meant
Code:
Nandpro usb: -r16 nand.bin or Nandpro lpt: -r16 nand.bin
You didn't include the " : "

Since this is the Noob forum...

Have you made sure the Xbox 360 has the power supply plugged in(but do not turn on the Xbox!) when you try reading the nand?

Pics of your soldering please.
As above plz!!!

I have had this error numerous times and it has always come down to soldering. It may look good but I have been fooled more than once.
As you are getting this with lpt cable and the nandx, i would assume the nandx and cable are fine.

With out pics tho we are all just guessing mate.

Ha yea I made sure it was everytime.

While im thinking about that does anyone know what happens if you try and read the nand while its turned on? Just becuase I may have done that on one of them

Here are some pics. It looks pretty messy due to the fact ive re-soldered loads of times and not been great at soldering. Using the multimeter I checked the undersideof the board to each of the wires (thats why I left a bit exposed) and there were not breaks or bridges.

Jesus thats the first time ive seen it so close and it look quite sloppy but the contact is good on all the points.

I had a nand x that refused to read multiple board that I knew where working. So I order a second nand x and they all worked great with the new one.

Make sure you power cycle the console then the NAND-x. They don't look like NAND-x wires though. Have you ever got it to work ?
Thats the wires when im using an LPT cable. I managed to read the nand twice on my slim, compare and then it would'nt write or reader after that.

I thought about doing that but i decided to make an LPT cable instead much cheaper, same result.

Thats what makes me think its something im doing wrong I just cant think what

Was your soldering as bad with the first time you did it and the images you posted. It only needs a short and when powered on you can damage the NAND-x.

Failing that, try another USB cable!

Wow... dude I think you should practice soldering on a scrap board. I also highly recommend using Quick Solder Boards (QSBs) next time.
