Okay guys, I feel like a kid over candies. I have recently join the Xbox scene and TX and have enjoy it very much. In the last month I have successfully flashed 10+ xbox360 both Slim and Phat. I think after this many successful tries I am moving along to RGH and JTAG. This has gave me something to do beside work and family - a stress relief thingy. Thanks again TX and every who have helped me before with other question.

So, today I got my complete RGH shipment in and it's a weekend which so I am making the time to do my first RGH Slim. I have read a lot in regards to RGH. I still have one question before I go ahead and jump right into it. Will I be able to play game directly from an external HDD after I install the Coolrunner or do I have to install the Freestyle dash in order for it to work?

Easiest way is to install freestyle dash to play your backups. So yes, install Freestyle dash. you can even install it on your external hdd, and place your launch.ini file on your external drive.

Thanks. I will be doing that for sure but I would like to know as I am learning. So is it mandatory or not is my question.

I think you can point NXE dash to boot GOD images with some other homebrew programs, but it's more involved. As mentioned, why would you not just install FSD?
