Hi everyone,

thanks again for all your help the last time but im back again with some more questions...

ive gone out and bought a usb pro even though i managed to flash my empty pcb using my sata chipset the first time round.

My question is this....

I am ready to go to v3.0 firmware but wanted to know whats the best way.....remove my pcb and install my original pcb again to the drive then upgrade to newest dash or just flash my pcb with stock firmware again and use that for the dash upgrade?

2nd questions

Once i have updated my xbox safely and im ready tp flash......do i make sure my pcb is on stock firmware before going to v3.0 or can i go from v2.0 to v3.0 without anything else in between....

if anyone can give me a true safe fast and smooth method of doing this i will be most thankful.

ie i hear the drives must be flashed with ribbons off? i do this anyway but just to be sure just in case

thanks again

Someone correct me if I'm wrong cause I was thinking of doing this myself.

Surely you can connect the original pcb to the xbox cause it is stock anyway. Update the dash (don't know if you even have to connect the pcb to the drive mechanism, don't see why you should have to) Then just reflash the TX PCB to LT3.0. That way any time you update you can just reattach your original PCB and update.

Sounds easy that way and if noone disagrees it's how I'll be going rather than unlocking and selling my original PCB

If you got the PCB unlocked already installed, just update to the latest dash (per C4Eva, you don't need to flash back to stock on Slim) then flash to LT 3.0.

No need to swap out the PCB unlocked board with the original one.

ball00 that way is perfect and easy to do its also mentioned to do that in jungleflasher tutorial but you can always flash your tx pcb back to stock also saves messing with wiring especailly as the tx pcb is no solder friendly and as xblade says you must always go back to stock before an update

ok thanks guys and just to clarify what i am about to do so i feel safe that i wont mess anything up.

1. i hook up my TX Pcb drive to usb pro and ck3i.

2. Set the board to unlock status via the jumper switch.

3. Flash back to stock firmware (as described in the JF tuts)

- using dummy.bin and stock 0225 firmware? (I have other bin files that were generated too from the dump. Do i need these too when flashing to stock?

4. Install drive back to xbox and do an update to latest dash.

- do i leave the pcb on unlocked status still ot shall i lock it before the dash?

5. Remove drive again from xbox and hook it up to pc gear and flash to new version 3.0+.

6. Make sure drive is set back to lock status via the jumpers

Is this correct?

Oh and also remember to make sure all my ribbons are unplugged from the pcb while flashing is taking place accept when doing the dash update.....yes?

thanks again for your help in advance

Ok, here is my success story and hopefully one which will help others....

ok so using all the tools for an easy flash (i ifrst used my internal chipset and boy it was 5 hous of work never again will use that route) - using the ck3 lite and the usbpro

I originally had 2.0+ and as everyone recommended i used the replacement pcb to flash back to stock instead of swapping it with the original pcb.

Her are my steps ( i presume you all know how to use JF by now soo i will not detail that process)

1. Took my TX pcb card out and flashed back to stock using my dummy.file from original dump and used stock 0225 rom from the ixtreme folder pack. Sent intro to get to vendor mode 9dont forget to move the jumper switch to 1 from 0).

2. Successfuly flash and sent outro 2/3 times till verification was confirmed in JF.

3. Put the box back together again and had ready my usb stick with the newest flash to begin the dash upgrade process. Once complete i tested an original DVD to confirm it ws reading it and the backup discs were not. All ok from here.

4. Took my TX PCB back to the pc and hooked it up to all the gear and started JF again where i flash my original firmware to 3.0+.

5. Put xbox back together again and then took it for testing. It booted fine with the new dash (completely different to the last version by the way) and put in a original dvd. It worked. Then i put in a backup disc in and it worked too....hooray.....i guess i did it correctly....

Now one thing i will mention i dont know how important it is......once i connected my kinect sensor after all my steps above. The system wanted to do another update. it must of been relative to the sensor because if i removed the usb it did bring up the message. I did it anyways since i was too lasy to go back to stock again.......and the update completed (but i was offline from the net however). The update was a success and im still playing backups...

I now i have to test XGD3.......

Hope this is useful to some of you

XGD3 backup is working.....

and working on DATAWRITE budget dvd's using some sweet settings obtained from some other helpful forums using imgburn and kprobe......

Luckily buying super expensive verbatims is not required anymore......
