After buying a card at Newegg (from the link in the texbook), after looking at all the tutorials, looking at almost all the threads in that forums, reading the texbook about 5 times, I'm still unable to, even make xtreme boot maker (last version), to read my original firmware (Samsung ms25) . I don't even have the 3 choices with my chipset listed....it says, reading 00% and nothing else. I've read that many people received the wrong card from Newegg (by the way, they don't carry that card anymore). When I try to see which chipset I have it just says VIA 6421, neighter L or A. Don't know what to do anymore, just very dissapointed and frustrated

Newegg still has it, I just got mine a few weeks ago. Search for Item # 15-124-023. The full description is SYBA SY-VIA-150R PCI SATA / IDE Combo RAID Controller Card RAID 0,1,0+1 JBOD - Retail. I checked just now and it's still in stock. :D

Also, as many others have noted, I had to use the front SATA port on the card (the port closest to the front of the computer). When I plugged into the back port it would not read anything. Which port are you using?

If you can give a more detailed step-by-step description of everything you're doing and any errors/warnings/messages that pop up along the way I'm sure someone can help further.

Thanks for replies guys. I effectively connected the SATA cable where it says cn1 (the port closest to the front of the computer) I even tried both port but, this doesn't mean anything if I have the wrong card. When I run AIDA32 or xtreme boot maker, I only see VIA 6421. Does it mean there are 3 cards with that # ?? VIA 6421, VIA 6421L & VIA 6421A . Is there any other way or any little program that exist so I can double check the real version of that card before returning it?
