Really getting upset with this chip ARGHH

Okay here's the deal got a crystal xbox with x3 chip installed. I had a problem with fraging but fixed that issue (i had a solder point that was loose). I turned it on it worked fine for about one day then it started fragging again. I'm getting peeved at this thing. I was able to play a game then do an IGR back to the menu now when I do an IGR it freezes, and then when I go to power it on it frags.

aCan anyone help??

I'm gonna have to say it, but I would strongly suggest going back and checking your soldering one more time!!! That is what most people will tell you!!! So, I figured I would get it out first....

Some improper solder jobs work from the beginning, but then go bad at some point. They can work intermittently or just pop loose at a certain point. Multimeters can be misleading on these problem areas too due to the changing pressure placed on the point you’re testing, you could get a consistent pull one minute and then inconsistent the next. Best thing to due is go back in and examine your job or redo them, if you have a v1.6 check your rebuild as well. Also check for any solder splash that may be lingering about.

Could it be a bios issue??
Why would it be a BIOS issue if it is working ... then after a period of time suddenly stops.

CHECK YOUR SOLDERING.

Are all the conections nice and shiny? Are they firm (for D0, HDD, and LAN wires). Are they in full contact at the pin header.

As you use the Xbox, the solder joints (and everything else int he Xbox) heats up, as things heat up a connection that was working can suddenly fail.

Continuity checking while the xbox is off is great, but unless you know what you are doing with a multimeter, don't randomly probe for voltage readings while powered up - you are likely to do more damage than good.

Should I say it again.

CHECK YOUR SOLDERING.

I had the same problem. It was a bad solder point. I had damaged a trace pad. I fixed it by stick a fine wire into the whole in the center of the pad and soldering it in place, then soldering the LPC wire to the fine wire and putting tape over it to insulate.

I noticed that the XBOX mother board is flexible, as is the case. Just picking it up and moving it around probably causes very subtle distortions that may dislodge a tenuous solder joint.

I think a REALLY COOL MOD would be a METAL case to replace the crappy stock plastic one. This would remedy the distortion problem by preventing twisting, and also aid in heat dispersion. I'm thinking brushed aluminum . . .
