I've got the X3 and xadpt3r on a version 1.6 (not sure if its b or not). I didnt connect the switches when i installed it. I flashed it with X3 3294 it turned off like it was supposed to after flashing. When i turned it back on it turned on and off 3 times then fragged. I've tried pressing power +eject together but the same thing happens. Anyone got any ideas what i've done and how to fix it? Is my chip dead?:(

That doesn't answer the question. There are two 1MB banks on an X3: 1234 and 5678.

Go to the XB-VERSIONS link on Xbox-Scene to check the version.

What if it's a 1.6b, then what? I got a bad flash on that one. And now I have a bad bios and frag.

If you didn't attach the switches then it is on the first bank. Boot up (power and eject) with switches set to 0,1,0,0 then switch them to 1,1,0,0 then reflash with 1.6 bios.

I managed to sort out the original problem, thank you g$$$. I now have a different one. i tried to set up a password and now it wont go passed "rox my box" screen. Im under the impression i need a new chip. If i buy another will i be able to hot swap to sort out the first one? If so is there anyone that wants it? I'll have no use for a second chip.

Big Mistake but no worries many of us did that and learned the hardway, there are many posts on this "never set the password on the X3" there is a bug the password screen never shows up in the new version of the X3 therefore you will never get back in.. if you do a search you will find the answer but anywho you will now need to downgrade and load the older version of the X3 bios then log in and take the password you set off, then upgrade back up two the latest version but this time stay away from the password setting.

Personally I think there should be a sticky in Big Red Blinking Lettering saying

"Do Not Set the Password in the X3 Bios"

or release a new version and fix the problem or just remove that option all together.

you will need to boot up by holding both the power and eject that will force the backup flash then load up the old flash remove the password then upgrade the new x3 flash

what banks did you work with?, you should had been using Banks 1234 so (on, on, off, off) keep in mind I am using the X3CP so not sure the bank switching if you are using the standard panel that came with the chip, but the the banks order 1234 still is what you should had used.

not sure how or what banks you flashed.. is your bank 1234 still at the factory setting? if so just change the switches to 1234 (consult the help files for changing the dip switches so that it is at the 1234 settings) and boot up the system it should go to the default flash screen if you never touched that one. The before you flash change it back to the banks you screwed up, then flash the old x3 bios to it.

This should help you as for as the dip switch setting

http://teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23297&highlight=switch+settings

so you should had been flashing to Bank 1234: on on off off (Set to this when flashing first time with FlashBIOS)

You can try to set the switches to Bank 5678: off on off off just to load the system if for some reason the backup banks are screwed up but once you get the flash screen you can flash the chip ****but first change the switches back to banks 1234*** then reflash the chip with the old X3 bios then remove the password then reflash back two the updated version.
