Really strange problems related to the X3(I think) on a 1.6

I had an X3 in my 1.6 Xbox. After about 2 months of use, the Xbox died (wouldn't boot, no power leds, no power to the fan). One day the power just wouldn't turn on. I tried everything for troubleshooting. I removed the X3, changed power supplies, and checked the power switch with a multimeter to no avail. I put the X3 in my 1.1 and it works fine. No problem since I installed it. I installed another X3 into my brother's Xbox yesterday. Got it installed, flashed the chip, turned off the Xbox, and went to run some errands. When I returned, the XBox wouldnt boot at all, same problem as before, completely dead. I've installed Xeniums on 1.6s with no problem. Any ideas on how to figure out why the boards are dead or how to fix them. It seeems more than coincidental that both of the boards were 1.6s with X3s. If there is a problem with the chip that can kill a motherboard, that is not good, to say the least. Anyone else seen this happen?



PS: Neither of the boards have any burned chips or traces that I can find and neither board died in use.

My only best guess is that the LPC re-build is incorrect. I have not had any problems with the X3 at all on 1.1 - 1.6 boards.

If you used the LPC board from Tx I would suggest to re-solder it. The connections are small and could have Dry Joints on them. I always use wires.

Its most likely a transistor problem. Had same problem in mine then replaced transistor and booted back up no problem. They have an article on xbox-scenes called ressurection of a a v1.6 motherboard. a. Drag the “start scissors bar” button to where you want to start and “end scissors bar” button where you want to end. (1)
b. You can click the “Trim From” button when you want to start the trim during your preview and click “Trim To” button when you want to end.
c. Set the exact “start time” and “end time” at right part of the trim window and click “ok”.

2. Crop:
Three ways to do crop
a. Select one crop mode from the “Crop Mode” drop-list.
b. Dragging crop frame to choose your own crop.
c. Set your own crop value.

3. Effect
Drag the adjustment bar to find your favorite effect of Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Volume.

4. Merge into one file.
