Rebooting problem/Error 21

I have a 1.6b with a 2.6ce installed on it. I used the solderless adapter for the install.

Everything seems to have gone well. I flashed 5035v1.6 and flashbios 3.01 onto it

The last owner did a softmod and managed to screw up the hard drive. So i intended to do a fresh install to fix this. Needless to say when i try to boot off the hard drive im getting error 16.

Now for the problem, whenever i put in a cd/dvd the consule reads the disk for awhile then reboots itself. When it comes back on it gives a error 21

I have tried reflashing the bios, and even tried with evox.

It will do the same thing with the dvd-rws he was using before he killed the hd.

Any sugestions?

Sounds like the Xbox can't read the disc, and then it tries to boot from the hard drive. Try downloading an autoinstaller like Slayer's or AID and rebuild the hard drive.

Well the problem is, everytime it attempts to boot off a disk it reboots. So i cant get the thing to run AID / Slayers. Its doing it off original disks as well.

Ill play around with pluging a pc DVD-rom in there. It could be the dvd drive has died on me.

Oh, I see. Well the DVD drive isn't dead if it will boot Slayers or AID. What video mode is the Xbox setup for? What about the region?

It will NOT boot slayers or AID. Or anything else. Everytime it boots from the cd it will read the cd for awhile. Then reboot itself. And when it comes back on from the reboot its error 21.

Hmm... I geuss I can't read today. What happens when you boot to flashbios? Is the DVD drive detected? Did the PC drive work?

Flashbios will see both the DVD drive and the hd.

Today i tested a few different cd drives and HD to see if either one was the problem. I either get the roboot after reading the cd. Or it will just sit there and hang (mostly when using the non-xbox drives)

And iv made sure i have the master/slaves pins are correct. Im not sure what other options i can try.

I noticed a couple of things.
1. With 1.6b, only FlashBIOS 3.0.3 will work on it. NOT 3.0.1. But don't worry about this so much since you're able to to boot into FlashBIOS
2. Did you get the "Xecuter Rox my box" logo when the machine boots up? If so then you've successfully flashed your chip with X2-5035v1.6. The problem is then to reading the DVDs. Try using different media type (-R and +R) or even different brand of media.

Yep, i would get the Rox my box when i was using the X2 bios.
I have been trying all kinds of media for the bootdisk. Some it will just give up on and attempt to load the dash (which isnt on the HD) others it will Rox my box, then reboot.

It also does this to disks that did work 100% back when it was softmoded by the last owner (before he screwed up the dash that is)
