Hi,

I've been researching mod chips since about late summer, and I think I've read everything there is to know about the different models of Xecutors. Now I'm ready to buy one. My question is, as someone that's never modded an Xbox before, what does the X3 offer me over a 2.6? Is it really worth that extra $$? I'm looking for simple things: the ability to play backup games and not ruin my original discs, FTP to my xbox, stuff like that. I'm not interested in xbox live as of now, but if I do decide to get it I'd like a chip that offers what I need to be able to play live. I don't see a need to install bigger hard drives, etc, or anything advanced like that. And soldering isn't an issue, I've gotten pretty good at it.

Please feel free to flame, link to similar threads, whatever... I have looked around a bit and I still haven't gotten the answers I need. What can I say, a dumb noob would like advice from the experts :)

despite some problems with newer XBs, the X3 is the best as far as ease of use. and yes, its worth the $$$. Team X is hard at work resolving current 1.6/1.6b issues.

my brother has an X2 which is ok but the X3 is sooo much better. The only advice is to read, read, then read again all the tutorials and guides there are. Use the search function to find answers to any questions and then go for it. The information in this forum is first class just do the research first and you won't be dissapointed.

Good luck.

You can get some good deals on the 2.x chips ... but if you think about it, how much ongoing support will there be for these chips? Certainly not getting the funky control panel, or other goodies that are coming down the pipeline.

X3 is the current version. It costs more than the 2.x version, but has more expansion capability. If you don't need the extra features, go for the cheap version.

Only real advantage (besides $$$) of the 2.x over the X3 is the solderless adapter. X3 doesn't have one released (yet).
