Hello,
I have a friend with a Nintendo Switch with a solid Blue Screen. Trying to discern possible fixes. From what I've read, this seems to be caused by a corrupted file in the switch's Flash ROM.
Is this the only suspect, or are there other possible causes?
Also, if it is a Software issue, what would I need to repair it, if the desired end-result is a working, but unmodded switch?
Please don't misunderstand, I'm not new to console modding - I've modded an Xbox 360, PS Vita, PS3, and a Wii before. I've never owned or used a Nintendo Switch, so I want to be sure I do my homework before proceeding any further.
Preliminary research seems to suggest that I will need a Jig, a Laptop, and a USB cable.
I do NOT intend to keep custom firmware installed, so can I get away with using the above, or would I require a dedicated hardware tool, like the SX Pro for the process?
Update: I did some more research. Looks like I don't need a Payload injector, or SX OS license just to hack the system and do a NAND dump. I do need a RCM Jig. From there, how would I go about fixing/restoring the system.
I also see that I need to check if the unit is patched, before I do anything else.
