Hello,

I have a 1.6 xbox with the X3. I got an eeprom from my old xbox 1.0 and uploaded it to my xbox (the 1.6). Now when i turn the xbox on the bank status light goes red, then it turns blue and the reads the hard disc. Nothing is appearing on the screen at all. There is also no sound.

When i try to eject the DVD drive it just makes a "dum" sound and nothing happens. If i press the power and eject together i can still get the cromwell bios. The drive opens fine there.

I unlocked the hard drive before attempting any of this. I also have full backups of EEPROM before i attempted this.

I'm near to tears here as this is my second xbox which has gone wrong. Have i just created a £150 door stop? Does anyone have any ideas if i can fix the problem!

I've searched the forums and not found any helpful advice.

AFAIK there are no tools to physically update the EEPROM on a 1.6.

At the moment, I think you're hosed- hope for someone to write an EEPROM tool for the 1.6

...and someone has!!! The new Configmagic now supports v1.6 EEPROMs.

You need to obtain a 1.6 EEPROM from someone. Get them to use the new ConfigMagic to back it up. You need to embed it to an Evox M8 16 BIOS using EVTool - flash this to your chip using a programmer. Boot the embedded BIOS and your Xbox should work.

Follow the instructions that come with ConfigMagic to create a boot CD. You need to put your replaced EEPROM file on the disk too as instructed.

You'll then be able to load it in and replace the one on the Xbox.

Wireless controller no power

I bought a wireless controller from Ebay and when i got it it was working. So i tried to get it to sink up with my xbox and the 4 lights were just flashing. So i removed the battery pack and it quit working. Now it wont power on at all. I bought a new rechargeable battery and it doesnt work. The pack i had was the one you put regular battries in.
Does anyone have any ideas about how i can fix this or somewhere i can send it to get fixed.
TIA

Hate to sound like a d**k but did you try new batteries and make sure the rechargeable one was charged?

Re: Wireless controller no power

Ok so i got the cable and still no good. So i decided to mess with the gold pins where the battery would charge if i had one like that and i got it to come on and flash. It flashs about 3 or 4 times then shuts off.
Any ideas?
