red light when chip installed

sorry of the the information is already posted elsewhere in the site but I have looked everywhere and read many posts for this info. I have installed my chip and at first I got a frag. I checked my solder points and finally found that I needed to clean my board and resolder. Afterwards I resoldered and the It worked fine except no flash bios screen. I only get the original startup as if the DO was not soldered on correctly but I have resoldered it and know that it is a good solder. Also I couldnt find out what it meant if I get a red X. My lan led and my hdd led are both working I just dont get the flash bios screen. I also know about the 1.6b needing the 3.0.3 but I have also read that that my be on bank 5678.

Anybody know what my problem may be or should I be getting a blue X instead of a red X.

The blue/purple X is what you are looking for. The red X indicates you are bypassing the mod and booting with the M$ dash. That means you are holding the power button to long. Do a quick tap on it and it should come on red and immediately turn blue/purple. If you have a 1.6b then with the switches off,on,off,off,off you should get the 3.0.3 screen.

Just try getting a different color X, first.

If you have the x3, it came with a switch panel you can put on the front of the xbox. It has dipswitchs that can be either in the on or off posistion.
